  • The immediate release of the Secretary General of SORTU, Arnaldo Otegi, would be an important first step. He has been a key player in the building of the peace process. His imprisonment is for clear political reasons and is an obvious impediment to progress.

  • Putting Arnaldo Otegi in prison was stupid, a real craze. A peace process can not operate if the maximum representative of one of the sides is in prison. It judges on a democratic state shouldn't act this way. I think that Spanish judges follow the agenda set up by the PP. A peace process should be separated of the actions of judges. It is unimaginable that a judge in the North of Ireland had put Gerry Adams in jail in the middle of the negotiation.
